Finally, Jerry Sandusky, the former Penn State football coach has been hit with a 30- to 60-year prison sentence by Judge John Cleland in Pennsylvania. This was stemming from 45 guilty counts of sexual molestation against him.
As the man was led away after the passing of the sentence, I could just imagine several other sexual molesters who, for now, are faceless perverts hiding behind the façade of some cute public images in several parts of the United States.
A strange observation I have made about this issue is that one rarely, if ever, hears about some poor, struggling men molesting hapless, gullible boys. Rather, the perpetrators are often men of means, privileged individuals who use their positions to harass and molest innocent kids.
This therefore makes me wonder and indeed meditate over the root causes of these acts of shameless perversion.
In a society where parents go into a lot of trouble to meet up with the wants (as opposed to the needs) of every spoilt kid, what else can one expect but for such a child to grow up to become a Jerry Sandusky?
For every new brand of sneakers, phones, games and other toys, some parents make it a matter of compulsion (including getting into debts) to buy them for the whining kids. And a few months along the way when a new brand comes out, the current one has to be discarded, yet again, for the new brand. This is the consumption cycle some kids go through from childhood to pre-teen, teenage and finally adulthood when they become over-pampered “grown-ass” men.
The spoilt brats of yesterday soon become “glorified adults” who are now “happily” married, raising another generation of spoilt brats, live in fanciful suburbs and have great careers as coaches, athletes, bankers, entertainers and even as pastors.
But there is a problem. They still have a kid’s mentality that makes them get easily bored with everything they do and in every circumstance they find themselves.
Consequently, the boredom leads them to suffer great difficulty in doing things the normal way that regular folks do. And so, they have the urgent, constant need to be “creative” even when performing the most basic of chores.
From coping with reality (they indulge in drugs) to tampering with physical appearance (they pierce eyelids, tongues, navels, breast nipples and genitals with rings), doing weddings (they now wed on trees, mountain tops), having sex (they practice “doggy” anal sex, masochistic sex, oral sex, pedophilic sex, wife-swapping, voyeurism etc), marriages (open marriages where each partner can have sexual partners outside), starting a family (having kids through surrogates to protect a wife’s cute figure), child-naming (kids are now named Apple, Carrots, Blue etc).
Just what would those spoilt creatures not do to escape from their frequent state of boredom? And, as in the case of Sandusky, how many more innocent kids will be sacrificed just for them to feed their appetites on every new “invention” of sexual pleasure?
