Finally, the New Jersey Gov.
Chris Christie was reported secretly underwent a special weight-loss surgery
called “lap-band stomach surgery”. It took place in February, 2013 amid concern from his family and friends over
his weight.
But wait a minute!
These public figures---politicians, celebrities and the
sorts---are the same all over the world where their egos are concerned.
How come Mr. Christie didn't think of his wife and children
(in the past 20 years that he had been carrying the excess weight) by taking
some serious action to reduce it? Why wait for Dr. Connie Mariano, the former
White House doctor, to prod him into real action (when the doctor publicly
advised him to do "something" urgently about his obesity)?
Instead of gratitude, the governor had gone into instant
denial and lambasted the doctor. And now that the governor has done
"something" about the weight matter, it's only fair that he tender an
unreserved apology to Dr. Mariano.
This should be a good lesson for those who are fortunate
enough to have someone advise them in regard to obvious problems. Instead of
denials and insults, such individuals should learn to be grateful and take
immediate actions to solve their problems.
