Book Release Announcement

LIFE BEHIND BARS by Femi Olawole was released to the literary market today, July 17, 2023.

In the opinion of the author, the American prison system has been transformed into a big, booming business. There is a cluster of parasitic cottage industries, the dairy producers, the bakeries, the juice makers, and several other businesses that feed on the system. These businesses become more and more lucrative as unlawful individuals continuously railroad themselves into the vile system branded as correctional centers. And coming into equity, if only the inmates knew there was just a thin line between them and the officers watching over them. As revealed in LIFE BEHIND BARS therefore, the offenders are simply dumb to make a habit of unwittingly recycling themselves as the much-needed human raw materials that lubricate the wicked engine of oppression that a typical prison represents.

The author should know all these issues. He retired as a lieutenant from the Delaware Department of Corrections in 2022 after a 15-year tour of duty with the state’s largest law enforcement agency. Prior to his stint in the Department of Corrections, Femi Olawole was a certified accountant with a passion for freelance journalism. He once contributed a weekly column of social commentaries to The News Journal (Delaware’s top-most newspaper). This was in his capacity as a member of the newspaper's Community Advisory Board. In 1993, Olawole received The Nigerian Media Merit Award in the Business Reporting category for his work, Sailing on Dark Waters. He is also the author of The Temptation of Fate and The Tower of Mammon. Olawole is in Delaware, United States.
