Today, this hour, this minute and this second mark the dawn of a new adventure in my life. I am writing a blog. I have always considered a part of my adventurous soul to be perpetually perched, like a curious bird, at the feet of philosophers. This explains my frequent resorts to proverbs and the wise sayings of Socrates, Plato, Archimedes, Albert Einstein and a host of other "deep" individuals of old. And, of course, I am a product of Yoruba land in the southwest of Nigeria where an integral part of the very rich culture and traditions is the use of proverbs and adages in conveying complex expressions. Over there in Yoruba land, "proverbs are the horses that convey words."
Over the years, I have found myself in situations where I have to counsel other individuals on various personal issues and life travails through the use of wise sayings of philosophers and the past experiences of others and mine. This therefore is the culmination of a persistent request from many of those individuals with whom I have crossed paths that I share my humble opinions and ideas through a public medium such as this blog.
I intend to write in this blog on daily basis. Some of my daily writings may be long, short or even be restricted to just one word. Each piece may be in form an essay, article or a quotation. And here is a "caveat", these writings represent my personal opinions, to which I am entitled. Writing, to me, is an adventure. And with every adventure comes a taste of the good, the bad and the ugly. I don't expect everyone to agree or abide with everything I write. They are, and will remain just that...my personal opinions.
