A major component of democracy that I cherish so much is the power of “One man, One vote”. A billionaire such as Bill Gates or Oprah Winfrey is entitled to one vote just like poor me. A corporate CEO is entitled to one vote. Even the president of the United States can only cast one vote. Election Day, like today, is a leveler of mortals. Everyone is equal before God.
The ballot is a huge power in the hands of everyone. And one vote can make a difference. This therefore makes me wonder why anyone, with this enormous power in their hands, has to be persuaded or begged (on radio, tv and other news media) to go exercise their rights.
The power to vote is a great franchise that should not be trivialized or thrown away.
