Melania Trump Slammed for Visiting Kenya Wearing a Hat Commonly Associated with Colonialism.

First Lady, Melania Trump is catching heat yet again over her clothing choice.
On Friday, while visiting a safari in Nairobi National Park in Kenya — a stop on her first solo trip to Africa — FLOTUS was photographed wearing a white pith helmet, a hat most commonly associated with colonialists.
In the 19th and 20th centuries, European military personnel often wore pith helmets as they sought out colonies in Africa and Asia. The hats remained popular with those who moved to colonized countries and are seen by many as symbolic of the oppression of colonization.
Shortly after the sighting, several people called Melania out on Twitter. “Melania Trump wearing a pith helmet on her trip to ‘Africa’ is more than a silly sartorial choice. It’s a reflection of her outdated understanding of Africa,” Kim Yi Dionne, a political-science professor who specializes in African politics at the University of California, Riverside wrote.
“Also, she was photographed in safari attire multiple times on this trip,” Dionne added.
Matt Carotenuto, a historian and coordinator of African Studies at St. Lawrence University wrote, “Melania completes the stereotype trifecta– elephants, orphans and even the pith helmet.”
FLOTUS’ accessory of choice came just one day after she was greeted in Malawi with a crowd of protestors, including two carrying a sign that read: “Welcome to Malawi #NOTAS—HOLE!,” according to the Associated Press.
The hashtag was a reference to her husband Donald Trump’s remarks in January in which he reportedly referred to some African nations, along with Haiti and El Salvador, as “s—hole countries.”
Malawi was the first lady’s second stop on her four-nation tour of Africa.
While there, she reportedly toured outdoor classrooms at Chipala Primary School in Lilongwe, before giving remarks as the U.S. ambassador passed out 1.4 million books paid for through a national reading program funded by the U.S.

“I wanted to be here to see the successful programs that [the] United States is providing the children and thank you for everything you’ve done,” Melania said.
The first lady arrived in Ghana on Tuesday and stayed in the capital city of Accra, where she met over tea with Ghana’s first lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo, at the presidential palace.
On Wednesday, she visited Cape Coast Castle, a former slave holding fort on Ghana’s coast.
After Kenya, FLOTUS will travel to Egypt before returning to Washington, D.C., on Sunday.

Melania Trump Embarks on Four-nation Trip to Africa.

For her first solo trip abroad, First Lady Melania Trump is en route to Ghana, the first of four countries she plans to visit this week. While many Washingtonians might want to take flight as the battle over Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh continues, FLOTUS’ trip was months in the making. Her wardrobe choices also required considerable planning. Without President Trump at her elbow — or any of the other Trump family members within sight — this will be an individual experience, and presumably a statement–making one from start to finish.
In an interview Friday, Trump’s stylist Hervé Pierre said, “It’s her trip. She really decided to do it. From the beginning, she wanted to do this.”
Expected to land in Ghana at 6 a.m., the First Lady’s travel itinerary includes stops in Malawi, Kenya and Egypt before returning to the Beltway Sunday. “She will spend time with schoolchildren, visit hospitals and do some of the things that tourists do while they are in Africa,” according to pool reporter Katie Rogers of The New York Times. “Why Africa? The White House says she has never been before and has long wanted this to be the destination for her first solo trip.”
Arriving at Joint Base Andrews around 5:45 p.m., the First Lady dressed the part of the foreign diplomat, wearing a camel-colored suede trenchcoat. (Rogers noted that “leopard-print stilettos” polished off the look.) The Vince coat was selected especially for the departure, according to Pierre. While much has been written about Trump’s affinity for European designer labels, Monday night’s choice of Vince, a U.S.-based contemporary label, was a change of pace. The company had a $1,695 suede trenchcoat on its e-commerce site discounted to $678 Monday night.
As always, Trump is in tune with fashion trends. Madonna, Karlie Kloss, Lady Gaga and Rosie Whiteley-Huntington have each worn their own takes on the trenches, during Paris Fashion Week. And Rihanna wore a Monse trench dress for a Fenty Beauty event last weekend in Dubai.
But back to the trip — the Ghanaian capital of Accra will be the first destination, with a refueling stop scheduled along the way, Rogers’ reported in her dispatch. Earlier Monday, the president of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, declared 2019 as a Year of Return, inviting the global African family to a birth-right journey home to the country. His wife Rebecca was among the spouses of heads of states who attended a reception with the First Lady last week in New York. The gathering was held on the sidelines of the United Nations’ 73rd General Assembly.
During the stay in New York, Pierre had his work cut out for him just trying to meet with the First Lady. Practically hopscotching his way through the police barricades and security checkpoints along Fifth Avenue near Trump Tower, Pierre said, “You should have seen the face of the first policeman that I met three blocks from Trump Tower. I said, ‘I have a meeting with the First Lady.’ And he looked at me like, ‘Yeah, sure, and I’m the Pope,’” Pierre said. “Usually what I do is to open my bag or my folder. Sometimes I will say, ‘Please Google my name. You won’t see my face. You will only see her dress. But at least you will know that I am not joking.’”

Michelle Obama Finally Responds to Someone Asking Her to Run for President.

When Donald Trump was elected the next President of the United States last week, many already started looking ahead to the following election, with a certain candidate in mind: Michelle Obama. #Michelle2020 became a trending hash tag as hopeful citizens tweeted their wishes to see the current First Lady run in four years.
MICHELLE IF YOU RUN FOR PRESIDENT 2020 I WILL EAT ALL MY VEGGIES AND DO GREAT IN SCHOOL PLEASE @FLOTUS— happy j(@bustanutdoung) November 9, 2016

One good thing will come of this...in four years time Michelle Obama will be the first black female POTUS. Start visualizing now peeps! — Magda Szubanski (@MagdaSzubanski) November 9, 2016

I'm going into hibernation until 2020 when @MichelleObama is hopefully president and Donald Trump has fake tanned himself into oblivion—Niki Albon ˊˎ˗ (@NikiAlbon) November 9, 2016

But what does the First Lady herself think of the idea? Would she entertain the possibility of going from FLOTUS to POTUS?
Today, as she addressed Veterans' homelessness in the White House, someone in the audience yelled to her, "Run for president!" She responded with a hearty laugh and said, "You be quiet back there," with a point of the finger before breaking into a chuckle. So maybe she shot down the idea of joining the 2020 presidential race for now—but she's still got a couple years to change her mind.

Melania Trump: The First Nude Model to become an American First Lady.

On November 9, 2016, Donald Trump of the Republican Party surprised the world when he defeated Hillary Clinton of the Democratic Party to win the United States presidential election. He will be formally sworn in as the 45th President of the US on January 20, 2017.

On the same day, his wife, Melania Trump, will assume the role of the First Lady of the US, becoming the first foreign-born woman to hold the position since Louisa Adams, the British-born wife of John Quincy Adams who served from 1825 to 1829.

The Office of the First Lady of the US is an entity of the White House Office, part of the Executive Office of the President. The First Lady has her own staff that includes the Chief of Staff, White House Social Secretary, Press Secretary, White House Chief Floral Designer and White House Executive Chef.
Meanwhile, First Lady-designate Melania is in a way different from previous first ladies who had held the position: She is the only first lady to have posed nude.

Born on April 26, 1970 in Slovenia (formerly Yugoslavia), Melania is 46 — meaning that there is a 24-year age gap to her 70-year-old husband — she was raised by her Communist party member father, Viktor Knavs, who managed car dealerships for a state-owned vehicle manufacturer, and her mother, Amalija Ulnik, a pattern maker at a textile factory.
The First Lady-designate’s original name was Melanija Knavs, but she found fame as a model under the name, Melania Knauss. After attending the Secondary School of Design and Photography in Ljubljana, the Slovenian capital, Melania enrolled in the University of Ljubljana, but dropped out a year later to pursue a career in modelling at the age of 16. When she was 17, renowned fashion photographer, Stane Jerko, spotted her in Ljubljana as he left a fashion show and invited her for a trial photoshoot.

Her shoot with Jerko catapulted her into the spotlight, leading to a contract with an Italian modelling agency in Milan, Italy. Since then, Melania has worked across Europe and has graced the world’s catwalks and magazines.

In 1995, Melania posed nude alongside for a French men’s monthly magazine. The “bombshell” photo set, obtained by the New York Post, shows her lying naked in a bed alongside Scandinavian model, Emma Eriksson.
