My Prayer Principle.

I am a believer. But I have a very peculiar approach to prayers. I must be one of the very few believers in this world who make the shortest prayers at any point in time. Most often, when I go into a prayer, it’s strictly to express gratitude in two ways. First, I thank God for forgiving me of my sins. Then, I thank God for His bountiful blessings in my life. That’s it! No story and no campaign. Blog_prayer

As far as I am concerned, the almighty God is far too omnipotent and supreme to be cajoled or deceived with some crocodile tears. In whatever critical situation I find myself, I accept personal responsibility. I believe it’s the way I lay my bed that I sleep in it. What I sow is what I reap. Therefore, the best I can do while praying, is to be grateful to God instead of pestering Him with a list of requests as if He owes me, after all the sins I commit every day.

Yes, this is how it should be, except that as we lunch into our prayers, we all often get carried away by our long lists of demands from God...lol.

We all have the tendency to bombard God with all kinds of demands. But you're right, we do also need to realize that God already knows what we need as opposed to what we want.

All I could do was laugh out loud as I read this piece. It was like you saw through me and was writing about me.

Okay, you just made me feel a little guilty here. Yes, I always thank God for His mercies and all but I am one of the guilty people when it comes to long prayers....lol.....

With all due respects sir--I don't care what you say---there is no way I can afford to simply say your type of prayer, lol. I just can never feel comfortable until I spend a long time saying my prayers. After several minutes of presenting my "case" to God, that's when I wrap it up.

Too many of us are guilty of making demands when praying.

How nice it would have been for us Christians to only express gratitude while praying. Churches would have been closing after a few minutes----lol!

I guess it's time I reviewed my idea of prayer points now that I've read this piece. Truth is bitter. You have pointed out the most important issues that a prayer should encompass. Thank you!

This guy is too much of a radical....lol. Wow, it's like you're completely going opposite of what many people do. But guess what? I am right behind you on most of these ideas.....lol...

You're my man! I wish many more Christians and Muslims realized the great points you're making here.

I'm in total agreement with you, as radical as this and many of your ideas may appear. The fact is that many of us (believers or none believers) don't deserve anything except by the grace of God. So, why don't we throw whatever our list of requests into the nearest trash cans and simply ask for the forgiveness of our sins? Kudos man!
