The Ignorant and Myopic People are not Worth Fighting for.

When the Bolivian military finally got to find Che Guevara's hiding place. They got the information from a shepherd. Out of curiosity, they asked the shepherd: "Why denounce a man who is sacrificing himself for your freedom and well-being?"

The shepherd replied: "I denounce him because the crackling of his weapons always scares my animals in pasture."

When Mohamed Karim, the Egyptian who undertook to resist the assault on Alexandria by Napoleon, was arrested by the army and sentenced to death, Napoleon appealed to him and said:

"I have the trouble executing a man who has valiantly defended his country. I do not wish history to retain the image of me as a person who stifles the impetus of patriots that defend the integrity of their homeland. So, I promise you freedom if you pay ten thousand gold coins as financial compensation to my soldiers that the resistance killed."

Smiling, Mohamed Karim replied:

"I do not have the full amount requested on me  now. But the merchants of Alexandria for whom I fought are indebted to me by more than 100 thousand pieces of gold. They will pay this fine, for sure so that I will have my life saved."

Chained, Mohamed Karim was driven to the Alexandria market for a tour of the market in search of the sum on which his freedom would depend. But, to his great surprise and disappointment, no merchant cared about his fate. Worse, the merchants and the rest of the natives, accused him of being a troublemaker, destroyer of property, and undermining the economic vitality of the port city of Alexandria.

Napoleon, in view of this situation declared:

"I will concede that the sentence of capital punishment be executed...not because you killed my soldiers, but for having fought for cowardly people who cared more about their business than about their freedom and integrity."

Mohamed Rachid Rida, Syrian Arab reformator said: "To revolt on behalf of an ignorant people, is like to set yourself on fire in order to light the way for a blind man."

Will James Brown Ever Rest in Peace?

James Brown, the soul legend who died of congestive heart failure on December 25, 2006 was kept on ice for several months due to stupid squabbles among his descendants. Finally, sanity prevailed and his body was buried. But the body has never known peace!

Blog_JB

So far, the body of James Brown has been exhumed and relocated for about 16 times. Some of these relocations were brought about by the singer's widow, Tomi Rae, upon the excuse that the man did not get the burial he would have wanted. The same woman also got a court order to get the man’s legs amputated and practically dismembered. This was to have a DNA test performed to determine whether James Brown was the father of Rae’s son, James Jr.

For a man who rose from a very humble background and, by dint of hard work, rose to great heights in the music industry, this is a big shame!

Whatever legacies James Brown would claim he had left to posterity could never compare with the gargantuan mess that now lingers since his demise. This is a huge lesson for all men, irrespective of their financial or social status. The mess men create in their wild days definitely lives after them!

The American Ironies.

·         In America, no one is allowed by law to drink and drive. Yet, everyone is expected to show a driver’s license to buy alcohol. What therefore is the relationship between liquor and a driver’s license?

·         In every gas station, there is a sign that warns people not to smoke. However, all gas stations sell cigarettes.

·         Walk into any major retail store and what do you see? It’s the individuals who really need to do some physical exercise that you’ll see using store-provided scooters to go about the store.

·         United States is the only country in the world with too many marriage counselors who are either divorced or never married.

·         Inter-state highways are built by the federal government to link one state with another. Hawaii is an island that has no road-linkage with any other state. But why do they have inter-state highways…roads that lead to no other state?

·         America has a travel/trade embargoes against Cuba. Yet, many Americans, especially the rich and the famous (including law makers) spend huge sums of money to indulge in the habits of smoking the Cuban cigar.

·         It’s funny how rappers and thugs revel in the image of social misfits and non-conformists by their inappropriate public attires. But let them have some criminal or civil case and you’ll see them in court all “decked out” in some fanciful suits and ties. That means they do know the importance of proper modes of dressing!

·         America is globally known as the foremost land of freedom and liberty. Yet, several Americans, especially blacks, were forced by circumstances of slavery, racism and prejudice to seek freedom and liberty elsewhere by adopting the citizenship of foreign nations such as Canada in North America and France in Europe.

·         The words “colored people” have been described as the worst misnomer in English grammar. This is because it’s a Caucasian individual that has different shades of skin “colors” while a black person has only one. Therefore, how come the same words remain an integral part of an organization such as the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP)?
