Nigerian Pastors and their Gross Hypocrisy and Disregard for Rules.

David Oyedepo, Nigerian preacher, Christian author, businessman, architect and the founder and presiding Bishop of the megachurch Faith Tabernacle a.k.a. Winners' Chapel International gave out the hand of his daughter in marriage over the weekend (August 21st and 22nd, 2020).

 

In these pictures, the popular pastor and his wife lead their daughter to the aisle during the wedding ceremony. A wedding day is expected to be a day of joy as two persons come together to become one. But in this case, certain things were seen to be wrong and disappointingly so.
 
The wedding of the Oyedepo's daughter took place in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic in Nigeria. And all the COVID-19 protocols were thrown overboard. 

• No masks.
• No social distancing.

This is a gross demonstration of ignorance, stubbornness and nonchalance to public health.
 
And, by the way, it is the usual practice of Oyedepo's church, the Winners' Chapel, to join wedding couples together in a mass ceremony. However, when it came to his daughter's wedding, there were no other wedding couples to share in the limelight. What an hypocrisy!

The Ignorant and Myopic People are not Worth Fighting for.

When the Bolivian military finally got to find Che Guevara's hiding place. They got the information from a shepherd. Out of curiosity, they asked the shepherd: "Why denounce a man who is sacrificing himself for your freedom and well-being?"

The shepherd replied: "I denounce him because the crackling of his weapons always scares my animals in pasture."

When Mohamed Karim, the Egyptian who undertook to resist the assault on Alexandria by Napoleon, was arrested by the army and sentenced to death, Napoleon appealed to him and said:

"I have the trouble executing a man who has valiantly defended his country. I do not wish history to retain the image of me as a person who stifles the impetus of patriots that defend the integrity of their homeland. So, I promise you freedom if you pay ten thousand gold coins as financial compensation to my soldiers that the resistance killed."

Smiling, Mohamed Karim replied:

"I do not have the full amount requested on me  now. But the merchants of Alexandria for whom I fought are indebted to me by more than 100 thousand pieces of gold. They will pay this fine, for sure so that I will have my life saved."

Chained, Mohamed Karim was driven to the Alexandria market for a tour of the market in search of the sum on which his freedom would depend. But, to his great surprise and disappointment, no merchant cared about his fate. Worse, the merchants and the rest of the natives, accused him of being a troublemaker, destroyer of property, and undermining the economic vitality of the port city of Alexandria.

Napoleon, in view of this situation declared:

"I will concede that the sentence of capital punishment be executed...not because you killed my soldiers, but for having fought for cowardly people who cared more about their business than about their freedom and integrity."

Mohamed Rachid Rida, Syrian Arab reformator said: "To revolt on behalf of an ignorant people, is like to set yourself on fire in order to light the way for a blind man."

College Experience: Good, Bad or Ugly?

It's that time of the year again when "freshmen" are resuming at their various colleges/institutions of learning across the world. And, as a parent, I can only wish them success in all of their academic endeavors. I also wish to share with them the following admonitions: 

In my life so far, I have come across certain individuals, and especially young women who made some dumb choices while in college. And the consequences were as varied as they were many. Some of those women voluntarily though ignorantly allowed themselves to be used like some science laboratory specimens or “guinea pigs” by some young men in need of sexual experimentation. Sadly, the eventual experience gained by the men went on to benefit some other women to whom they eventually married. 

And there were women who graduated from college with more than diplomas or degrees. They also came out with very low self-esteem, sense of disillusionment, infertility, herpes, oral gonorrhea or (and) HIV. I have also seen some women who, at the verge of getting married, were suddenly ditched because their prospective grooms discovered that the future brides were once the “bed mates” of some guys who had since become the grooms’ buddies or colleagues (men do "kiss and tell"). The worst scenarios involved women who, while in college, used to be “call girls” that serviced some rich, old men for cash or adventures. 

In later years, many of these women usually wound up as “born-again” Christians. And this is quite noteworthy except that the new faith rarely erases the physical and emotional scars the affected women sustain from their self-inflicted injuries. It’s a very sad irony that a period meant for the acquisition of knowledge can sometimes be unwittingly turned into an era of imbibed stupidity.

Chi-Raq, a Movie as a Social Commentary.

Just watched the movie, Chi-Raq. Almost every Spike Lee's movie is a social commentary on the Black American communities. Chi-Raq, his latest work for instance, deserves to be seen by every African American. But that obviously, will never be the case.
The problem is that Lee's movies tell "too much" truth in a society where the word "Truth" is a hated, bitter pill to swallow.

Even though Chi-Raq reveals everything that is wrong in our communities, it's too boring for a people that will rather see something else, possibly, a movie that turns a blind eye to the truth and simply entertain.

It's so sad to learn, through Chi-Raq that in Chicago city alone, the number of young Black folks that were murdered in cold blood by fellow Black people, is almost the same as the number of all Americans killed in the Iraqi war.

The same movie paints a vivid picture of how we, as Black people, enjoy using the "N", the "B" and the "H" words blatantly on each other in a daily orgy of profane, self-denigrations.
Yet, if a non-Black person should use an equal dose of those negative words on a Black person or, worse still, kill a Black guy, there would be riots and mayhem on the streets. What a society!

It’s downright shameful that a whole President Obama is rudely confronted with so much stereotypes and disrespects on daily basis and, especially, by those who are not as well-educated and professionally grounded as he is.

 

What then should poor folks like me expect from similar ignorant people all around us? Most often when I look at the idiots who try stereotyping and disrespecting me, I realize that they are barely educated. Each time this happens, all I see is a fool who cannot see beyond his/her nose. And this only drives me crazy.

Becoming Incredible Hulk at What Price?

This 25-year-old man risks his life by injecting oil and alcohol into his biceps in a dumb bid to become a real life version of the incredible hulk. There are many more fools like this guy (even among celebrities) who are doing "everything" to develop their biceps and triceps. They do this to enhance their performances in sports, act in movies or (and) for vanity.

Alas, they are all current or future candidates of impotence, liver disease, kidney disease, heart disease, mental disorders, severe hair loss (they are often bald-headed) and several other physiological damages. The guy (Romario Dos Santos) a Brazilian bodybuilder, nearly lost his arms in his quest to bulk up. “I remember the doctor told me that they would need to amputate both arms…they said everything in there, all my muscles, were rock." He is now warning others to stay clear of all the dangerous "addictive".

It was Leopold Von Ranke who said (and while saying it, he must have been shaking his head in pity) “He who overcomes himself is divine. Most see their ruins before their eyes; yet, they go on into it.”

A Set of Twins With Two Fathers.

The New Jersey Law Journal reported on Thursday that a New Jersey woman got the shock of her life when she discovered that her 2-year-old twins have two different fathers. The mother (identified as “T.M.” in court documents) got the news last winter when she received the results of a paternity test mandated by a family court as part of her application for public assistance.

The order was made so as to establish the paternity of the twins (in order to make the twins' "father" pay child support). DNA test results however revealed that the woman had two sexual partners who are now separately responsible for the kids' paternity.

This is grossly absurd. But then, what else really is new in America when it comes to sex? A couple of years back, a young woman appeared on “The Maury Show” to know the father of her new baby. The man she suspected was invited to the show for a DNA test which proved that he was not the father. Then, she brought another man who was found to be free from the paternity as well. After the eighth man was also cleared, the show host was livid with anger as he asked her “Just how many men did you sleep with within the same period of a menstrual cycle?” I lost interest in the case after the woman brought the 12th man from her neighborhood. Alas, even that one was cleared by DNA.

One thing I keep finding painful in stories such as these though is the unfairness of the women involved to the children born out of such sexual recklessness. The hapless kids could have been spared all the nonsense if only their mothers were not so dumb as to engage in unprotected sex. When a woman spreads her itchy legs wide open while shutting off her brain, this is what happens.

“No Offense But…” is the beginning of Disrespect.

Usually, when someone starts a conversation with “No offense but…” he/she is not going to say anything positive. 

Definitely, that person is just about to be offensive. At that point, if they are not immediately discouraged or stopped, an avenue for them to be disrespectful will be created unwittingly. And when that happens, unnecessary problems will arise between them and the other person.

Personally, I have resolved to never wait for such an ignorant person to continue with their conversation. This way, I give a prompt impression that I refuse to be a victim of whatever ignorant thing is about to come out of their mouths. I have however witnessed several scenarios where unwary victims got prejudiced, stereotyped and insulted through spoken words that are started with “No offense but…”

Therefore, when next someone around you starts a conversation with that ominous statement, “No offense but…” tell them immediately to stop right there! Alternatively, change the subject or, run, if all else fails.

Narcissism: Between Kim Kardashian and Beyoncé.

According to Wikipedia, to be narcissistic is to have an excessive or erotic interest in oneself and one's physical appearance. Narcissistic individuals are vain, self-loving, self-admiring, self-absorbed, self-obsessed, conceited, self-centered, self-regarding and egotistic.

Narcissism is a social disease that afflicts the rich and the famous. This disease is regularly sustained by the media which routinely feed on the gullibility of the famous. At the height of her “social sickness”, Britney Spears was notorious for her desperation for the limelight. And when it appeared that some other fellow narcissistic celebrities were stealing the shows, Spears resorted to the absurd. She shaved her head and, promptly, the young woman was back on top of the news. But in spite of all that nonsense, the time came for the media to get their hands on a fresh set of suckers.

Right now, the most notorious in narcissism among the celebrities are Kim Kardashian and Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter a.k.a. Beyonce. Amidst a very tight competition, these two women will go to any length to display their obsession for public attention. From marrying some “unusual” men to giving their kids names that are most ludicrous and wearing outfits that make them look as good as stark naked, just anything will do in feeding their insatiable lust for public attention. And this was evident at the last Met gala where both Kim Kardashian and Beyoncé wore outfits that left nothing to imagination.

In the above picture, the gross hypocrisy of the American media was glaring. One picture that shows celebrities in the erotic movies genre is captioned as “Porn stars at the 2014 AVN porn Awards”. But the other picture showing Beyoncé and Kim Kardashian is captioned as “Influential people at the Met gala.” Objectively though, the “porn stars” dressed like choir girls when compared to the so-called influential women who looked as good as cheap whores.

 

 

 

Appreciating What You Have.

There was this story about a young couple. Both the husband and wife were educated professionals living in a Philadelphia apartment building. And they were notorious for their frequent noisy fights. At least, once in a month, the wife would throw her husband out after heated arguments.

On one such occasion, the two were in the middle of another noisy fight in the evening when the wife began to throw the man’s shirts, shoes and other stuff out while screaming at him to go find somewhere to stay for the night. As she did this, their next-door neighbor quietly opened her door and called out to the man to bring his stuff into her apartment.

“Seriously?” the wife asked the neighbor in fury. “Are you out of your frigging mind…asking my husband to move into your apartment?”

Nodding her head calmly, the other women stated. “You don’t appreciate what you have. If you did, you’d not be throwing your husband out every time you have a quarrel…”

Now amused by the turn of event, the husband stared at his stupefied wife who, at this stage, tried to hide her embarrassment by screaming at her husband one more time. “And what are you staring at the bitch for…will you pick up your stuff and get right back inside?”

 

 

 

 

Baltimore Riots: To Whose Benefits?

Each time my black folks express grievances over some injustice, their favorite choice of re-action is the tearing down of their cities of abode to shreds. In the wake of the massive destruction, looting and desecration that characterized the Baltimore riots, the consequences are beginning to manifest. The city will now end up diverting available resources from much-needed areas crying for attention to off-set the huge financial costs required to clean up and restore normalcy.

In the meantime, the whole world appears to have forgotten about the origin of the problem and its moral message. For the next couple of weeks, the only images in the consciousness of the global community will be those of a people engaged in an orgy of destructions and looting. In place of their initial empathy, the question on their minds now will be; “What’s wrong with those African Americans?”
And lest we forget. While the rampage lasts, schools are closed, academic year is messed up and kids’ minds are turned into a devil’s workshop due to idleness. On the other hand, many people will lose their jobs as a result of the looted and destroyed businesses. Therefore, to whose benefits are the riots?

The Worst Case of Child Abuse.

I still don’t understand why it’s so difficult for some women to take just a few seconds to think about the consequences of unprotected sex. It’s not just about them. In fact, it’s more about the child that may be unfortunate to be a victim of their sexual recklessness which sometimes takes only a few seconds. Why risk bringing an unwanted child to this world when all it takes to prevent the “mishap” is a condom?

This brings one to a 1989 story when a Santa Ana police officer Michael Buelna (right) found an abandoned newly-born baby in a garbage dumpster. But for the officer’s kindness, the baby could have died from exposures to the elements, dehydration or starvation. And now a 25-year-old man, Robin Barton (left) met recently with the police officer in an emotional reunion.

According to the AP, Buelna was on duty in November 1989 when he heard a faint sound coming from a trash bin. Buelna started shifting through the trash and discovered a baby, his umbilical cord still attached. The child was just four hours old and weighed 4 pounds, 2 ounces.

"He still had all the mucus and stuff, and all the trash and gravel was sticking to him," Buelna said. "I tried to give him a tiny little bit of breath, and he reacted a little bit."

Buelna wanted to adopt the boy, but another Orange County family stepped in first. They named him Robin Barton. Officers released a sketch of Barton's 19-year-old biological mother, later identified as Sarina Diaz, to the public. She was arrested and later sentenced to three years in prison for child endangerment and attempted murder.

KCBS-TV reports that news of the reunion led Barton's biological father to come forward. The two met Sunday, and Barton learned from Marcos Meza that his biological mother moved to Mexico after serving her sentence and wants to see him.

Meza said he had an affair with Barton's 19-year-old biological mother and only found out Barton had been abandoned in a dumpster when police questioned him. Meza said he has been searching for his son for years.

"It's a dream" to meet his son, he said.

Barton said he hopes that meeting his biological mother will also provide closure. "I'm not angry or upset with her, and I forgive her because she was a young woman in a very compromising position," he said.

Xenophobic Attacks in South African: A Sad Lesson in Irony.

Right now, many Africans are victims of xenophobic attacks at the hands of their black South African hosts. The reasons adduced to these heinous crimes against humanity by the black South Africans are ignorant at best. One claim is that they are being deprived of good jobs by the African immigrants. If that doesn’t sound silly, another excuse is that many of the men among the African immigrants are getting married to South African women. And for these reasons, whatever they are worth, African immigrants are being hunted down like animals in Durban, Johannesburg and other cities in South Africa by the indigenous black people.

Like many Africans across the world, my heart aches at this very unfortunate irony playing out before our very eyes. Were these not the same black South Africans for which many of us Africans sacrificed financially, morally and physically? Back then in high school, every now and then, we would contribute money from our meager pocket money for onward transmission to the African National Congress (ANC) in the fight and struggles against the then apartheid regime.

Poor global community. People, the world over, may seem nonchalant at this strange form of genocide. But I guess, just like the rest of us Africans, they too must have been finding it as a most embarrassing incident. As it is now, only the African Union leaders can best handle this sad issue. In the meantime though, it’s high time someone reminded those ignorant black South Africans that without the rest of us Africans, they would still be wallowing in a modern-day form of abject slavery by now. And back then, didn’t they have a permanent sad expression plastered on their pathetic faces? Now, they are flexing some lazy muscles at the people that should have been honored as saviors. Nelson Mandela must be rolling uncomfortably in his grave.

Raven-Symone: When Confusion Meets Ignorance.

In a recent interview on E! News, Raven-Symore was said to have declared that she didn't see herself as an African-American. Cool. If she doesn’t want to be affiliated with the African American community, fine. This is a free country where everyone has the right to affiliate with whatever racial group they choose. We are in a society where there have been so many cross-breeding that some products of such sexual liaisons naturally get confused as to their racial groups.

The former child star however over-reached herself when she mixed confusion with abject ignorance by declaring that; “I am from every continent in Africa, except for one, and I'm from every continent in Europe, except for one."

Can someone please tell the “poor” young woman that she could have derived DNA from every country in Africa and Europe. But there is only one African continent just as there is only one European continent. In the same vein, she is genetically implying that too many species of human beings from across Africa and Europe had, in the past few centuries, engaged in crazy sexual relationships. And that the person called Raven-Symore is a final product of the craziness. What a confused, ignorant individual!

Tasha Smith: When Life Imitates Arts.

When the movie, "Why Did I Get Married?" by Tyler Perry came out, I was of the opinion that a lot of single women should learn from the lessons that were abundantly exhibited in the movie in the area of marriage. This is because too many women appear to be interested only in mundane issues when considering future husbands. It’s always irritating to me when I hear women give reasons why they are in love or marrying a man. The stupid reasons usually range from “Oh, the guy is so cute!” to “He is great in bed”, “The man is rich” and “He has a nice car”. The most annoying part of it is that the affected women are the educated types that are not expected to be so dumb.

And, of course, the dumbest in this group of women are the celebrities. I often wonder whether it’s the fame or money that gets in the way of their common sense. An example of this stupidity is that of Tasha Smith, star of Tyler Perry’s "Why Did I Get Married?" It’s a classic case of life imitating arts. The woman obviously learned nothing from the movie’s many lessons.

According to TMZ, the actress “will think twice about getting hitched again -- the now ex-husband she calls a glorified assistant just scored a fat settlement in their divorce.” The woman has been ordered by a court to “hand over nearly $7k/month in spousal support to Keith Douglas. That's on top of the $50k she already shelled out to him in December.” The million Dollar question now is what was the woman thinking when she met, courted and getting married to a guy she now suddenly consider to be a “glorified assistant”? If the man actually fits that description then, she must be a glorified, damned fool!

The Life of a Spoiled Brat.

At this moment, the principal hung up the phone and turned toward the student.
“Yes, Ms. Weathers…what’s all the altercation between you and Ms. Sanders?”
There was no response.
“Hello…I’m waiting…”
“I…I didn’t like the way she humiliated me in the class.”
“How do you mean…can you be more explicit?”
All of a sudden, Weathers screwed up her face and made some wild gestures with her right hand, prompting the principal to think she was being rude to him.
“What…don’t you dare…” he threatened the student.
The man however stopped in his verbal tracks when, to his dismay, the girl clutched her stomach in obvious pain.
“What…in the world…is wrong with you?”
He rushed to her side as she bolted over, screaming in pain. It was at this stage the principal saw the thick, parallel lines of blood as they snaked down the girl’s pretty, long legs.
Now confused beyond comprehension, the principal called out to his administrative assistant.
“Mary…please call 9-1-1.”
He heard the woman acknowledge his order with the tapping of some numbers on the phone as she placed a call to the emergency dispatcher. He also listened to her subsequent conversation on the phone. Afterwards, the woman rushed to join the duo of the principal and the girl in the office.
“Jessica Weathers…” the principal was calling the girl as she lay crumpled on the floor. “Are you okay?”
“No.” the girl whimpered amidst sobs. “My tummy hurts like shit.”
“Can I call the school nurse?” the Administrative Assistant asked in panic.
“Yes, please…” the principal said but soon turned around to halt the woman’s movement. “But we can’t leave her on the floor. Can you assist me in placing her on a couch?”
With the aid of his administrative assistant, the principal lifted the sobbing girl onto the nearest couch.

A Woman's Biggest Misconception About Men.
