Selma and America’s Ugly Past.
I have resolved to stay away from movies about slavery and the American Jim Crow eras. They only evoke anger in me. It took some persuasions before I finally summoned the courage to see Selma. And I realized that it was positively, “a different kettle of fish”.
In the aftermath of watching the movie though, I came away with the following personal conclusions:

The four girls killed in the bombing (Clockwise from top left, Addie Mae Collins, Cynthia Wesley, Carole Robertson and Denise McNair). May their tender and gentle souls continue to rest in perfect peace.
In the aftermath of watching the movie though, I came away with the following personal conclusions:
- America, as great and as wonderful as it is, is a nation that is being horribly hunted by too much evil and bloodshed that were unleashed on innocent people in its past. For instance, there were the four little girls (see their picture below) that were bombed while inside their 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama on Sunday, September 15, 1963. It was described as an act of white supremacist terrorism. It’s been over 50 years and I wonder about the lunatics with pea-sized brains in Ku Klux Klan who perpetrated the evil. Many of them would have died and probably re-incarnated somewhere else by now. In Metaphysics, there is a discourse on the Law of Karma (as you sow, so you shall reap). Therefore, for those animals in human shapes and their ilk that unleashed so much hatred, evil and bloodshed, it’s easy to figure out the possible fate of their souls. And these are manifested in the many “strange” diseases, negative phenomena, natural calamities and an excessive presence of depressions in a nation so rich-blessed. While people in countries such as Norway, Denmark and others across the world are being celebrated as the happiest, "God’s own country" is well-known as the home of the most miserable people in the world. Happiness can only thrive on the foundation of benevolence, peace and tranquility.
- One thing has remained constant in spite of the evil and bloodshed that doted the landscapes of the America’s ugly, dark past. Back then, there were some white folks that stuck their necks out on the side of the maligned black people. And they did this at the risk of physical attacks that often led to severe injuries and deaths. They deserve to be celebrated along with Dr. Martin Luther King and the other heroes.
- Finally, it’s a shame to see how ignorant and nonchalant some blacks behave when it comes to exercising their voting rights. Selma and other horrible places in the American south have shown us that too many black folks died or got maimed just so as to pave the way for the future generations to vote. Therefore, any black person who refuses to vote at every American election is not only being ungrateful and self-defeatist but also declaring himself or herself non-existent and voiceless!

10 Survival Tips for Young Black Folks in the United States.
In the wake of the ridiculous verdict of the St. Louis County grand jury on the cold-blooded shooting of Michael Brown, here are ten survival tips for young black folks to consider:
These are times that call for common sense. It’s better to appear stupid and be alive than to “show off” and end up six feet below!
- Stay away as far as possible from any city or town that has no favorable racial diversity in its law enforcement agency.
- If you’re already stuck in such a city or town, avoid driving in the evening as much as possible.
- Don’t go driving about with your car loaded with black friends. It’s a sure invitation to racial profiling at the hands of white cops.
- If you get pulled over by a white cop, make sure to place your two hands calmly on the steering wheel as he or she approaches the car. And put a “zipper” on your lips!
- When the cop asks for your driver’s license, registration and insurance, gently inform him or her when you’re about to reach for the required documents.
- Make sure to say “Yes sir/ma’am” or “No sir/ma’am” to any question asked.
- It’s DUMB to swear, curse or argue with anyone that has a gun. If you disagree with a cited violation or traffic ticket, keep your feeling to yourself. You can always go to court later to argue it out.
- Please NOTE that cops are humans too. They have prejudices, frustrations, miserable lives and anger management issues just like other mortals.
- Yes, this is a land of freedom and liberty. But if you rely on that slogan to confront an armed cop (legitimately or not) you may be doing so at your own peril.
- And, lest I forget, there can never be any change in this God’s own country unless you and I make it a duty to always go VOTE at every election!

The Perils of the Internet.
“Generally, social networking sites
can be hugely promising and beneficial
in opening new friendships
and vistas
and knowledge of the world,
but they are also fraught with peril,
when young people are reckless
or headless.”

When “Keeping it Real” is Dumb.
Have you heard these words “keeping it real” lately? These words, as simple as they look and sound, have created a lot of issues and problems for a lot of young Americans. So many of them are indeed in jails across the nation because they have no clue as to what “keeping it real” is really all about!
In many black communities, for instance, “keeping it real” among the young people is the same thing as being disrespectful, doing badly in school, dropping out of schools, speaking poor English grammar and having pride in being an ex-convict. Another form of “keeping it real” is for a guy to dress like a thug, speak like a thug and act like a thug. The irony of this stupid attitude is that when real thugs get into trouble and appear in courts, they know better than to act like thugs. In fact, they suddenly speak and dress properly. So, this means they know the right thing to do in order to be taken seriously.
It’s terribly shameful that when some other young black folks do the right things such as staying in schools, studying to acquire good education, speaking proper English, dressing decently and being respectful, they are called names. The worst is that such nice young black folks are branded as “acting white”.
But when did the resolve to do the right thing become a monopoly of the white people? As a thoroughbred African, I take a very strong exception to the idea that black people are the custodians of negative stuff while white people are solely created to do the right things. But this is the crazy message some young black folks are unwittingly sending out to the world.

Transgender Couple: When the Weird Meets the Confused.
The lovers below (Bianca and Nick Bowser) are a married couple raising kids in Kentucky. They look cute, don’t they? But theirs is a strange, weird one.

Bianca, 32 (on the left) was originally born as a boy who was named Jason. And her husband, Nick, 27 (on the right) was actually born as a girl named Nicole. The two met in 2009 and fell in love before Nick decided to change his (her) gender.
As a couple, the duo of Bianca (formerly known as a man) and Nick (formerly known as a woman) decided to start a family. As at that time, Nick (who was still physically a female), decided to get pregnant for Bianca (who was then a man) even though Nick already identified as a male at that time. Subsequently, Nick (who was physically a woman) had her breasts removed surgically in order to fit into "her" new role as a man.
The bottom line of this saga now is the reversal of genders by the two individuals. Bianca (the former male) is now a woman/wife while Nick (the former female) is now a man/husband.
In the near future, it will be left for the kids of this couple to sort out the weird from the confused. However, theirs will definitely not be as simple as separating "the rice from the chaff"!

God bless America!
“I’m
proud to be an American,
where at least, I know I’m free.
And I won’t forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.”
