I have always believed in the wise words of sages.
I particularly treasure the admonition that a woman of virtue can consider herself, a precious jewel, that must not be given out to the swine of a man, lest he tramples his foot on her. Another word of wisdom is to never bother teaching a pig how to sing. The effort will be a waste of your time and the pig will end up getting angry.
What however happens where a "precious jewel" is handed to an appreciative gentleman who not only loves, adores and cherishes her but also gets over-protective, lest her great values be tarnished? I guess the sages of old would have expected only sheer gratitude from such a woman; except that in today’s world, there is tendency for the woman to react negatively rather than gratefully. And trying , under that circumstance, to explain the situation to an ungrateful woman can only get the man frustrated while the woman gets hassled.

The Height of Moral Degradation in Gods’ Own Country.
“The Strawberry letter” segment on the Steve Harvey Morning Show is one of my favorites. Every morning, people write letters to the show, baring their souls on some very personal issues. Some listeners are of the view that the letters are fictitious. But the presenters and, especially Shirley Strawberry, have often stated that the letters are real. And I believe them.
Today’s strawberry letter was a two-handed, heart-wrenching type. A man ( the letter-writer) wrote to say that he loved his wife (to whom he has been married since ten years ago) but that at the moment, he was at what I would describe as an emotional cross-road.
On the one hand, he started an affair with a sibling of his wife about three years ago. The sibling in question however was the twin brother of his wife. Now, the lover is threatening to inform his sister about the affair unless the letter-writer divorced her. Here was a guy desperate enough to break his sister’s marriage just so that he and the letter-writer could continue their gay relationship without hindrance.
On the other hand, the letter-writer wanted to justify the affair with his brother in-law by disclosing that his wife had cheated on him shortly after they got married. And guess who she cheated with? It was the letter-writer’s father. In fact, the woman got pregnant and had a baby boy for the older guy. The little boy is now being raised by the letter-writer. In view of this cheating issue therefore, the letter-writer believed that he had the moral right to comply with his gay lover’s demand.
Tommy Nephew’s response to the bundle of absurdities was the best in my view. At a future family re-union, Tommy gave hints about the way principal characters in that letter would be introduced? To start with, the man’s wife would simultaneously be seen as his wife and as a step mother. The man’s gay lover would be introduced as his brother in-law and as his “significant other”. And the letter-writer’s hapless son could also double up as his brother. What a spectacle that family re-union would exhibit?
And I thought I had seen and heard everything about moral degradation in God’s own country. But that strawberry letter on the Steve Harvey Morning Show has since convinced me that I “ain't seen nothing yet"

Thinking of You.
This is no cliché…and neither is it a platitude. After 27 years of marriage, you've become my sun, my moon, my guiding star, my kind of wonderful.

I know there is only one like you because there is no way God could have made any other woman like you. You're like the first morning dew on my brand new day. In you I've found so many things…among which is a love so new that only you could bring.
(Adapted from "You're The First, The Last, My Everything" by Barry White).

Transgender Couple: When the Weird Meets the Confused.
The lovers below (Bianca and Nick Bowser) are a married couple raising kids in Kentucky. They look cute, don’t they? But theirs is a strange, weird one.

Bianca, 32 (on the left) was originally born as a boy who was named Jason. And her husband, Nick, 27 (on the right) was actually born as a girl named Nicole. The two met in 2009 and fell in love before Nick decided to change his (her) gender.
As a couple, the duo of Bianca (formerly known as a man) and Nick (formerly known as a woman) decided to start a family. As at that time, Nick (who was still physically a female), decided to get pregnant for Bianca (who was then a man) even though Nick already identified as a male at that time. Subsequently, Nick (who was physically a woman) had her breasts removed surgically in order to fit into "her" new role as a man.
The bottom line of this saga now is the reversal of genders by the two individuals. Bianca (the former male) is now a woman/wife while Nick (the former female) is now a man/husband.
In the near future, it will be left for the kids of this couple to sort out the weird from the confused. However, theirs will definitely not be as simple as separating "the rice from the chaff"!

Never Ignore The Past
I used to wonder why some people (and especially women) just couldn't get it right easily in matters of the heart. But now, I know the reason: They ignore the past!
While it's alright to let go of past errors, but to shut out its lessons is similar to throwing a baby out with the bath water. This was the lesson I learned from an old friend many years ago.
I've never seen any woman that fell so quickly in love with every "dream man" instead of the "right man."
Back then, she had the prototype image of an educated, cultured, perfect gentleman in her mind and this was fair enough because she had the same qualities. The only problem however was that as soon as any man came along, she would proceed to "mold" him into her conceivable image much to the chagrin of the concerned men. For instance, she once spent a fortune to "kit up" one "creep" with some pretty suits and shoes just for the thug to look presentable. And as usual, the dude pretended to go through the charade until he had his fill of her "cookie" and then (like the others before him), he ran.
Incidentally, she just didn't get it. Each time, we talked and I had to listen to her sob story, she would always blame it all on the guys. Most times, her frustrating question was "what's wrong with guys?" That was until one day, I told her bluntly that "the question really is what the heck is wrong with YOU?" And when she looked confused, I asked further, when she would start learning from her past errors?
I said since she knew what she wanted in a man, all she had to do was WAIT for the right man to show up (with all the right packages) instead of trying to mold every Tom, Dick or Harry that came along into her expectations.
To my surprise, it took only a few minutes for the message to sink in. She has since been happily married.
Ironically, she always thank me for making her look back to learn from her past errors. But I will always thank her for providing some useful lessons I can pass down to my daughters.
