Indecent Exposures: Past & Present.

In the above photograph which was taken in 1907, Annette Kellerman was promoting a woman’s right to wear a one-piece bathing suit. And because of it, she was arrested for indecent exposure. This made me wonder about the possible reactions of the people of that era if they were able, back then, to have a glimpse of today's bathing suits as shown in the two photographs below. I guess the old, conservative people of the past would have most probably suffered mass heart attacks. 

Conversely, I also wondered what the reactions of the people in the 1907 era would have done if a couple of women in that era had woken up one day to wear the 21st Century "styles" of bikinis as the women in these other photographs have done? I believe the women would most probably have been stoned or shot to death. 

We’re Seeing Things That Even Sodom and Gomorrah Didn’t See.

Commenting on the decadence of Western civilization and the political turmoil in the Middle East, Messianic Rabbi Jonathan Cahn said "we're in end times" and this is clear because there has never been "a falling away" from faith and morality "to this degree." He added, "we're seeing things that even Sodom and Gomorrah didn't see." 

"We're seeing things that are unprecedented," said Cahn, a New York Times best-selling author, who stressed that the "falling away" does not just mean a turning away from God but a situation where man turns away from his own being and pursues that which is unnatural and contrary to reason and order. 

“Apostasia, in Greek, doesn’t just mean a falling away from faith," said Cahn on the Sept. 29 edition of The Blaze, hosted by Glenn Beck.  "It literally means a departure from the state of being."

"So here’s what it means," he said.  "In the same day when you see culture falling away from the ways of God, you’re going to see departure from the state of being: Man departing from the state of manhood, women departing from the state of womanhood, marriage departing from the state of marriage, family from the state of family -- all these things we are watching." 

"You want to know the reason why we're hearing all these things, why the news, the blending of gender, and all of these things?" said Cahn.  "It goes right to the word that was hidden 2,000 years ago." 

Host Glenn Beck then interjected, “People have been looking for – because you believe we’re heading towards the literal apocalypse? – what do you say to people who say, ‘John, there’s been a falling away a million times’?"

Cahn first said, "we're in end times, yes," and then continued, "We’ve never seen a falling away to this degree. We’re seeing things that even Sodom and Gomorrah didn’t see. We’re seeing things that are unprecedented." 

"On top of that, the key sign that was given that you’ll know, is that when you see Israel come back into the world – that’s it, never happened before – and for 2,000 years the church said, ‘not going to happen!’" remarked Cahn. But God said it would happen. Jesus said, I’m not coming until it does happen." 

"So, 1948, back in the world," said the Messianic rabbi. "Then it says Jerusalem – 1967?  It says the world will focus on Israel, there will be a controversy. We’re watching it.”

When it Comes to Marriage, Every Man is Conservative.

In those days, a woman would go to any length to cover up those sensitive parts of her body that men considered to be the basis of a woman’s physical pride. Women recognized this same physical pride as the bedrock of their emotional state of well-being.

Back in the day, a woman would take extra precautions to keep a man guessing about her body. It was common for a man to keep dreaming excitedly of the day when he would finally have the privilege to see that body.

These days however, it’s a different “ballgame”. Now, a typical woman will go to any length to expose the most intimate parts of her body, leaving nothing to imagination. From a very first date, she will provide a man with an eyeful of erotic sights to last him a lifetime. On a platter of gold, the man’s eyes are fed with a constant flash of her half-exposed breasts (cleavage) and the occasional exposure of her underpants (sex appeal). Unlike the past therefore, most men don’t have to “salivate” or have their imagination running riot anymore. Now, the only obstacle standing between a man and sex after one or two dates is just the distance between the location of the date and the nearest bedroom. Yet, it’s amazing, if not baffling to hear a lot of women lament over “the shortage of good men” and why marriage eludes them. Don’t they ever reason within themselves to realize that when it comes to marriage, every man is conservative in nature?

The Worst Advocacy Against Man.

Narcissism: Between Kim Kardashian and Beyoncé.

According to Wikipedia, to be narcissistic is to have an excessive or erotic interest in oneself and one's physical appearance. Narcissistic individuals are vain, self-loving, self-admiring, self-absorbed, self-obsessed, conceited, self-centered, self-regarding and egotistic.

Narcissism is a social disease that afflicts the rich and the famous. This disease is regularly sustained by the media which routinely feed on the gullibility of the famous. At the height of her “social sickness”, Britney Spears was notorious for her desperation for the limelight. And when it appeared that some other fellow narcissistic celebrities were stealing the shows, Spears resorted to the absurd. She shaved her head and, promptly, the young woman was back on top of the news. But in spite of all that nonsense, the time came for the media to get their hands on a fresh set of suckers.

Right now, the most notorious in narcissism among the celebrities are Kim Kardashian and Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter a.k.a. Beyonce. Amidst a very tight competition, these two women will go to any length to display their obsession for public attention. From marrying some “unusual” men to giving their kids names that are most ludicrous and wearing outfits that make them look as good as stark naked, just anything will do in feeding their insatiable lust for public attention. And this was evident at the last Met gala where both Kim Kardashian and Beyoncé wore outfits that left nothing to imagination.

In the above picture, the gross hypocrisy of the American media was glaring. One picture that shows celebrities in the erotic movies genre is captioned as “Porn stars at the 2014 AVN porn Awards”. But the other picture showing Beyoncé and Kim Kardashian is captioned as “Influential people at the Met gala.” Objectively though, the “porn stars” dressed like choir girls when compared to the so-called influential women who looked as good as cheap whores.

 

 

 

U.S. Rep. Chaka Fattah Sr: Physician, Heal Thyself.

According to news reports, Chaka Fattah Jr. the son of U.S. Rep. Chaka Fattah Sr. is currently awaiting trial over $200,000 in various spurious bank loans. The Feds are of the view that Chaka Fattah Jr. diverted the loans to live his fun-filled life as a “socialite”. In spite of his being a drop-out, the young man is said to have his residence in a $600,000 Ritz-Carlton condo. He is also reportedly spending lavishly on exotic cars for him and his girlfriend. And lest I forget, the man is alleged to have racked up over $33,000 in casino gambling debts.

The Bible says "Physicians, heal thyself." I have often wondered how some guys can claim to be effective in running the affairs of state, as huge as it is, when they cannot manage their lives or homes. Now, which is a greater responsibility?

The senior Fattah, a U.S. Rep; is supposed to be representing the interest of millions of people at the federal level. Yet, he cannot really be said to have got his life in order. He is twice divorced and on a third wife. And here is just one of his kids that is alleged to be a downward spiral educationally, and yet living large on other people’s money. This is an irritating irony of life that is common among folks who are in the public eyes. It’s worse for political leaders that are entrusted with caring for the lives of those in their political constituents, many of whom are poor.

These public figures are like some pastors whose charity don’t begin at home. They preach about morals, being “born again” and all that. Yet, their kids are the essential anti-thesis to everything they sermonize about on daily basis.

When It’s Time to Grow Up.

A COUPLE OF weeks after their wedding, Tunde had unwittingly resumed the reckless lifestyle he was pursuing as a bachelor. Quite undeterred by the adverse effects of his dangerous, rollicking past, the young man joined his friends to continue living as “boys” instead of the “men” they had become.
Every day, Tunde would always return home at the “eleventh hour” and with a different excuse per day. It was either an impromptu party he had to attend somewhere or simply that he had to go out with the “boys”. And on each occasion, he would return home looking drained, worn out and in a terribly drunken state.
In spite of these provocative attitude and lifestyle, a very patient Bola would, on each night, welcome the man home without any fuss.
This simple attitude, Tunde noted, was completely different from those of his friend’s wives. Almost every morning in the office, he would listen as his friends exchanged stories on the bitter quarrels and war of words that their wives waged against them for coming home late the previous night. He wondered why his wife never did any of such things to him.
He decided to satisfy his curiosity one night.
On the fateful night, the man had returned home very late as usual.
As Bola, holding on to a pillow that had been her companion all night, was on her way to the bedroom after chanting the “good night” line, he called her.
“Bola, can I have a word with you?”
The young lady stopped in her tracks. Then she turned back to face him with a curious expression.
“I hope there is no problem.”
“No…no problem. I just wanted to ask a question.”
“A question?”
“Yes. I’m just curious. Why is it that you don’t complain?”
“Complain…about what?”
“Come on, Bola…you’ve never complained about my night crawling…why?”
The young lady stared at her husband briefly without uttering a word in response. Then she smiled.
It was a very cold, cynical smile.
“Are you sure you want me to express my opinion on that issue?”
“Why not…go ahead.”
“Okay…I think the problem with young men like you is that you have refused to grow up.”
“What…what’s that supposed to mean, Bola?”
Even as Tunde’s expression turned ugly in reaction to this remark, Bola only shrugged her shoulders with her cold smile.
“Well…I did ask if you wanted me to express my opinion. And I’m just starting.”
“Ah…what else do you have to say after that ridiculous statement?”
“I’ll continue anyway. Unlike what obtains in many Nigerian homes, some of you young men have been privileged to acquire great academic education from some of the best universities in the world. But in spite of your fantastic qualifications, you are dense in attitudes. Absolutely empty…”
A stunned Tunde looked on speechlessly while the young lady continued with her vituperation.
“Look at you, for instance. Your parents sent you to the prestigious Harvard University in America to obtain a great academic education. But unfortunately and manifestly, you still lack the appropriate psychological stamina to cope with the real challenges of life…”
“Hey…now wait a minute!” Tunde interrupted, his eyes blazing red. “This is preposterous.”
“Please let me finish before you make your response. I’m forced to make this speech in the first place because you asked for it…”
“And so damn what?…” he cut in again.
“And so, you’ll have to wait till I’m done, alright?”
For a very few moment, both husband and wife glared at each other until the woman resumed her speech.
“Now, as I was saying…one of the challenges in life is marriage. You claim to be a married man but every evening, you keep talking about going out with the boys…boys? And I keep asking, when is my husband going to become a man…when is he going to grow up?”
She paused briefly on realizing that the man was speechless as he stared at her in utter disbelief.
“I can’t belief this…” Tunde finally managed to note quietly.
Unimpressed however, the young lady continued with her speech.
“And you thought I would complain…the same way your friends’ wives complain on daily basis…making fools of themselves? No sir! I married you for better, for worse. So, I just have to wait patiently and dutifully for you to grow up.”
She was about to leave but then turned around again.
“And by the way, have a good night, dear.”
With this conclusion, the obviously tired young lady finally turned to walk slowly towards the bedroom.
Stunned and stupefied beyond words, Tunde continued to glare at her contritely as she walked steadily into the bedroom.
“Wow…I guess I’ve got myself a philosopher for wife.”
Although there was to be no more reference to that strange incident, much to Bola’s surprise, Tunde stopped his wayward, boys-about-town activities, right from the following day. And whenever the man felt he had to attend a social function, he would insist that his wife accompanied him.

Hollywood’s Blacks: Servants, Slaves, Ghetto Moms and Thugs. By Deneen Borrelli.

While working with two black co-workers a few years ago, the topic of black history came up and we decided to challenge each other. Although they were a few years away from graduating from college, I realized they had limited knowledge about the achievements of historically important black Americans.

I was surprised they did not know the answer to questions such as, “Who was the first black female millionaire?" and "Who was Benjamin Banneker?” I was shocked at the answers I received.

After thinking about this I realized their lack of knowledge was certainly not related to intellect but was a result of our culture, where the achievements of historically important blacks are absent.

If you asked them about the latest hip-hop stars, athletes or movie stars, they probably could give brief biographies of several of them. Yet, they were unaware of black Americans who not only prospered in their chosen fields, but helped shape the course of American history.

Movies like The Help, The Butler, Precious, 12 Years a Slave, and Training Day all had black people as central characters. All won some type of award or nomination and/or had actors that were recognized with awards. Sounds good outwardly, right? If you take a second glance, you will notice all of these movies promoted stereotypes of black people.

Unfortunately, it appears a large majority of our awards are presented to blacks when we play roles where we are servants, slaves, ghetto moms, or thugs. The sad part is that many of these actors have been in other movies that have been just as good, yet they went unrecognized when they didn't "fit the description.”

Films and television programs, along with R&B artists and hip-hop stars who are way too numerous to list, all contribute to the negative black stereotypes.

My thoughts? Despite Hollywood's overwhelming Democrat support, which is supposed to be sensitive to our community, Hollywood is more comfortable when we (black people) are in our place.

I can hear the pro-Hollywood crowd now… “But these pictures and others are only reflections of what has happened or what is currently going on in our communities.” True, but so were many other positive black people who are rarely mentioned.

Why not make a major motion picture about George Washington Carver, who was both a brilliant scientist and a man of God? Or Charles Drew, who made amazing medical discoveries with blood plasma that led to the invention of the blood bank? Something uplifting that the black community could look up to as a model of progression.

In the end, we have to ask ourselves: If Black History Month, and black history overall, was truly honored in our schools, homes and our communities, our standards in what we call black entertainment wouldn't be allowed. We as a people would demand better and because money talks above all else in Hollywood, we would get what we asked for.

As long as we demand, and often times accept, lower standards and stereotypical entertainment, then lower standards are what we will get.

And if black Americans refuse to recognize that one of the greatest threats to continued stereotypes in entertainment are elite-minded liberals who claim to be our friends, we will keep getting the short end of the stick.

It's time to honor the memory of those who made Black History Month possible and start telling the true story.

Hollywood, we have enough movies that glorify the ghost of our past. Let's take a chance on introducing movies that highlight the accomplishments that black Americans have made in our country's history.

Maybe then we will inspire more of our people to greater things when they realize how great black history in America really is.

Once in a while, I meditate over what it must have been like for black people to live in the Jim Crow era of the United States. I especially wonder what kind of a harrowing experience every black person must have had in Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and other evil, blood-dotted places. Those were places where being black meant having a death sentence hang over a person’s head for no reason other than having a wrong skin color. What a horrifying life!

On the other hand, I imagined what a privileged, “wonderful” life it must have been for white folks in those sad days. All a white person needed to feel superior to “all those blacks” was merely his or her skin color. Back then, it didn’t matter how smart, educated or great a black person was, he or she would still be considered inferior by the most stupid, derelict of all human species who merely happened to be created white.

As for the sick, cowardly members of the KKK, they could easily be placed on the same pedestal with the lunatics and animals in ISIS and other Islamic terrorists of the 21^st Century. Many of the KKK members must have died by now. Nevertheless, I wish it was possible to know the fates of their miserable souls while in transit in the Cosmic Plane. From the point of view of Metaphysics, one can only contemplate what horror, sadness and bundles of regrets that each of those rotten souls must be going through “ad infinitum”! And for those of them who would have since re-incarnated, it can never be anything less than hell on earth for them in one form or the other. At least, this is what the Law of Karma is all about.

My Husband Doesn’t Know I’m Really a Man.

As usual, I was listening to the Steve Harvey Radio Show this morning when it came to the segment of “Strawberry Letter” which often sounds incredible but absolutely true. The letter read this way:

“Steve I have been married for 2 years and my husband is ready to start a family. My problem is…I was born a man. I had a sex operation before I met my husband…so, he doesn’t know. I’m afraid to lose him if I tell him. Steve what do I do?”

In his response, Steve Harvey admitted that he knew nothing about sex change. He however advised the wo(man) to simply find a way to make the husband divorce her. As far as Steve was concern, if the wo(man) should dare tell the husband the truth, she would have to become a man all over again in view of what a typical man would do upon hearing such an ugly, disgusting truth.

My personal reaction as I listened to this letter was that of “what else is new?” In this society, it's quite normal for a man to meet a woman, both fall in love with each other and before anyone can say “lovey-dovey”, the two are standing before a Justice of the Peace, mumbling "I do”. In the United States, most couples don’t bother to meet each other’s families. Yet, it’s considered rude for one partner to ask about the other party’s age. Asking for her/his birth certificate or some childhood photographs is off limits. In fact, it’s worse when one partner seems too inquisitive about the other person’s background. And that’s why the institution of marriage is being subjected to a lot of abuses every second in God’s own country.



In the above picture, adopted from a BBC Documentary titled "Sex Change Soldier", Ian Hamilton is a Captain of the Parachute Regiment and one of the most highly decorated officers ... in the British Army. He has served in Northern Ireland, Bosnia, Afghanistan and Iraq. But in 2007 Ian became the first officer and the first paratrooper in the history of the Armed Forces to undergo a sex-change operation.

The Good, Old Truth.

When it’s Time to Embrace Fortitude.

In line with the law of nature, whoever is destined to be great will definitely go through some trials and tribulations. The Holy Scriptures are replete with stories of how great individuals such as Jesus Christ, Muhammad, King David, King Solomon, Queen Esther and a host of others were subjected to harsh trials and tribulations. In a bid to strengthen them, God employed fate to throw similar tribulations onto the paths of great leaders like George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Winston Churchill, Obafemi Awolowo, Mahatma Gandhi, Kwame Nkruma, Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King Jr, Mahatma Gandhi, Golda Meir, Indira Gandhi, Mother Theresa and many others across the world.

All of these people were taken through the same pain and anguish to which a piece of metal is subjected at the hands of a gold-smith. In this process, an ordinary piece of metal is plunged into a fiery furnace. Afterward, it gets struck upon several times with a sledge hammer and then dropped into some cold water. Soon, the hitherto piece of ordinary metal becomes a precious ornament.

As mere mortals, it is only natural that we react negatively initially to trials and tribulations that fate throws at us. But over time, we get to know and appreciate the necessity of those trials. All we need while the trials last are a strong faith, fortitude and hope until the  eventual manifestation of God’s objectives in our lives.

 

 

The Height of Moral Degradation in Gods’ Own Country.

“The Strawberry letter” segment on the Steve Harvey Morning Show is one of my favorites. Every morning, people write letters to the show, baring their souls on some very personal issues. Some listeners are of the view that the letters are fictitious. But the presenters and, especially Shirley Strawberry, have often stated that the letters are real. And I believe them.

Today’s strawberry letter was a two-handed, heart-wrenching type. A man ( the letter-writer) wrote to say that he loved his wife (to whom he has been married since ten years ago) but that at the moment, he was at what I would describe as an emotional cross-road.

On the one hand, he started an affair with a sibling of his wife about three years ago. The sibling in question however was the twin brother of his wife. Now, the lover is threatening to inform his sister about the affair unless the letter-writer divorced her. Here was a guy desperate enough to break his sister’s marriage just so that he and the letter-writer could continue their gay relationship without hindrance.

On the other hand, the letter-writer wanted to justify the affair with his brother in-law by disclosing that his wife had cheated on him shortly after they got married. And guess who she cheated with? It was the letter-writer’s father. In fact, the woman got pregnant and had a baby boy for the older guy. The little boy is now being raised by the letter-writer. In view of this cheating issue therefore, the letter-writer believed that he had the moral right to comply with his gay lover’s demand.

Tommy Nephew’s response to the bundle of absurdities was the best in my view. At a future family re-union, Tommy gave hints about the way principal characters in that letter would be introduced?  To start with, the man’s wife would simultaneously be seen as his wife and as a step mother. The man’s gay lover would be introduced as his brother in-law and as his “significant other”. And the letter-writer’s hapless son could also double up as his brother. What a spectacle that family re-union would exhibit?

And I thought I had seen and heard everything about moral degradation in God’s own country. But that strawberry letter on the Steve Harvey Morning Show has since convinced me that I “ain't seen nothing yet"

• The movie theme of Opa Aje, a middle-1980s depiction of the 19^th Century internecine wars among the Yoruba people in the western part of Nigeria.

This was the most tragic period in the lives of the Yoruba people. It was a very sad moment when brothers were at each other’s throats and sisters were stabbing each other in the backs. Nothing was spared in the various war fronts, from the use of dangerous charms to other metaphysical powers. The brutal wars also led to the procurement of the most sophisticated military weapons of that era in the African continent. The Yoruba used all these lethal weapons against each other.

 And the consequences were legions, top among which were:

1. The internecine wars weakened the Yoruba in their opposition to the British military invasions. In fact, the military defeat (at Imagbon) of Ijebu forces by the British colonial Army was the platform used in the eventual annexation of the rest of Yorubaland. If the Yoruba were united, the British would have thought twice before going into that war.


2. The Uthman Dan Fodio’s Jihad campaign made serious incursion into Yoruba land at Ilorin through the treachery of Aare Afonja, the then Field Marshall of the Oyo Empire. If not for the great, valiant Ibadan warriors that defeated them, the whole of Southern Nigeria would have come under the Fulani hegemony.


3. The European slave traders also took advantage of the situation to forcibly cart away millions of Yoruba individuals to Cuba, Trinidad & Tobago, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Brazil, Venezuela and other parts of the World.

The sad irony though was that the crazy wars were fought merely to prove a point over who deserved the glory for the greatness and sustenance of the Yoruba race! This problem is not restricted to a race of people. Too many of us as individuals within marriages, families, churches, mosques, corporate establishments, neighborhoods and communities do also engage in glory-seeking battles.

And as it happened in Yoruba land, every quest for glory always leave bitterness, divisions and pains in its wake. Why so? Because glory belongs only to God!

The Damned Human Race by Ebun Olawole.

In Mark Twain’s literary work, “The Damned Human Race” (1905), he conducted an experiment that compared man to other animals. He concluded that man should be called the lower animals while the so-called lower animals should be regarded as the higher animals. He found Darwin’s theory wrong.

In terms of brutality, lower animals are better than man. He gave humorous examples of how brutal man can be. He continued that man has a flaw. And with the flaw, he is unable to reason because he descended from lower animals.



I agree with Twain (p. 8), that man is greedy, compared to the so-called inferior animals. In line with Twain’s opinion, it is man that will keep accumulating excessive things, especially riches, far beyond his actual needs because he is never satisfied. Man always wants more. For example, a well-fed, satisfied lion won’t kill another animal merely for the fun of it.

With man’s brain and intelligence, he is supposed to be able to differentiate between good and evil. However, it is not so in reality. As Twain noted (p.10) man is the only animal that agonizes over insults and waits patiently for a sign of weakness, then retaliates. A dog has no brain that is so sensitive as to realize that it has been offended and has to retaliate.



Twain recognized the many bad traits of the human race. Man is the only religious animal, yet the same man fights each other because of religion. There is a good example where, in the name of religion, a Moslem sect in Nigeria is currently holding about 150 abducted high school students hostage.

I also agree with Twain that man is the only animal that engages in war. Examples are the Ukraine-Russia crisis, Israel-Gaza war and many more. While the human race is known to possess the best brain, man will often act before he thinks.

 

 

 

Revenge of Mother Nature.

In God’s own country, we love to abandon things, irrespective of their importance. Unlike most other civilized nations, we easily get bored. And when that happens, we rush to dump and trash important stuff.

We are like a spoilt child who gets a new toy but after a few days, get bored with it and expects something new. And whenever we don’t quickly get that “something new”, we invent it. It’s like that with music genres, sporting events, education, historical monuments and core moral values.

Nothing however has suffered the most ridicule and trashing as core moral values, a major part of which is sex. Out of boredom and a strong need for extreme excitements, too many people have resorted to sexual adventures that will make jungle animals blush with embarrassments. And as fate will have it, this is an integral aspect of life that is often met with some very stiff repercussions from Mother Nature whenever there is a breach.

Let’s start with anal sex. Even dogs don’t stoop low to do it. Those indulging in this type of sexual style risk all kinds of diseases, the worst of which is renal failure. There is another sexual variety called fellatio a.k.a. blowjob. This is an oral sex act involving the use of a mouth or throat. As a result of this dumb “style”, there are lots of women and men who are now suffering from oral gonorrhea. This disease destroys throats and mouths with painful, cancerous inflammation, stinking pus and very ugly sores.

If the above examples are considered horrendous, what about bestiality? This is the practice where a man or a woman has sex with an animal. Out of loneliness, boredom or desire for excitements, a growing number of women now indulges in sexual relationships with their dogs. Out there also are men who regularly have sex with dogs, goats and donkeys.

And, of course, Mother Nature has a way of dealing ruthlessly with all these crazy perverts. Ironically, when they go see their doctors, they project the image of nice, cool individuals who just happen to suffer from some strange diseases as shown in the picture below.
