Becoming Incredible Hulk at What Price?

This 25-year-old man risks his life by injecting oil and alcohol into his biceps in a dumb bid to become a real life version of the incredible hulk. There are many more fools like this guy (even among celebrities) who are doing "everything" to develop their biceps and triceps. They do this to enhance their performances in sports, act in movies or (and) for vanity.

Alas, they are all current or future candidates of impotence, liver disease, kidney disease, heart disease, mental disorders, severe hair loss (they are often bald-headed) and several other physiological damages. The guy (Romario Dos Santos) a Brazilian bodybuilder, nearly lost his arms in his quest to bulk up. “I remember the doctor told me that they would need to amputate both arms…they said everything in there, all my muscles, were rock." He is now warning others to stay clear of all the dangerous "addictive".

It was Leopold Von Ranke who said (and while saying it, he must have been shaking his head in pity) “He who overcomes himself is divine. Most see their ruins before their eyes; yet, they go on into it.”

Appreciating What You Have.

There was this story about a young couple. Both the husband and wife were educated professionals living in a Philadelphia apartment building. And they were notorious for their frequent noisy fights. At least, once in a month, the wife would throw her husband out after heated arguments.

On one such occasion, the two were in the middle of another noisy fight in the evening when the wife began to throw the man’s shirts, shoes and other stuff out while screaming at him to go find somewhere to stay for the night. As she did this, their next-door neighbor quietly opened her door and called out to the man to bring his stuff into her apartment.

“Seriously?” the wife asked the neighbor in fury. “Are you out of your frigging mind…asking my husband to move into your apartment?”

Nodding her head calmly, the other women stated. “You don’t appreciate what you have. If you did, you’d not be throwing your husband out every time you have a quarrel…”

Now amused by the turn of event, the husband stared at his stupefied wife who, at this stage, tried to hide her embarrassment by screaming at her husband one more time. “And what are you staring at the bitch for…will you pick up your stuff and get right back inside?”

Xenophobic Attacks in South African: A Sad Lesson in Irony.

Right now, many Africans are victims of xenophobic attacks at the hands of their black South African hosts. The reasons adduced to these heinous crimes against humanity by the black South Africans are ignorant at best. One claim is that they are being deprived of good jobs by the African immigrants. If that doesn’t sound silly, another excuse is that many of the men among the African immigrants are getting married to South African women. And for these reasons, whatever they are worth, African immigrants are being hunted down like animals in Durban, Johannesburg and other cities in South Africa by the indigenous black people.

Like many Africans across the world, my heart aches at this very unfortunate irony playing out before our very eyes. Were these not the same black South Africans for which many of us Africans sacrificed financially, morally and physically? Back then in high school, every now and then, we would contribute money from our meager pocket money for onward transmission to the African National Congress (ANC) in the fight and struggles against the then apartheid regime.

Poor global community. People, the world over, may seem nonchalant at this strange form of genocide. But I guess, just like the rest of us Africans, they too must have been finding it as a most embarrassing incident. As it is now, only the African Union leaders can best handle this sad issue. In the meantime though, it’s high time someone reminded those ignorant black South Africans that without the rest of us Africans, they would still be wallowing in a modern-day form of abject slavery by now. And back then, didn’t they have a permanent sad expression plastered on their pathetic faces? Now, they are flexing some lazy muscles at the people that should have been honored as saviors. Nelson Mandela must be rolling uncomfortably in his grave.

Tasha Smith: When Life Imitates Arts.

When the movie, "Why Did I Get Married?" by Tyler Perry came out, I was of the opinion that a lot of single women should learn from the lessons that were abundantly exhibited in the movie in the area of marriage. This is because too many women appear to be interested only in mundane issues when considering future husbands. It’s always irritating to me when I hear women give reasons why they are in love or marrying a man. The stupid reasons usually range from “Oh, the guy is so cute!” to “He is great in bed”, “The man is rich” and “He has a nice car”. The most annoying part of it is that the affected women are the educated types that are not expected to be so dumb.

And, of course, the dumbest in this group of women are the celebrities. I often wonder whether it’s the fame or money that gets in the way of their common sense. An example of this stupidity is that of Tasha Smith, star of Tyler Perry’s "Why Did I Get Married?" It’s a classic case of life imitating arts. The woman obviously learned nothing from the movie’s many lessons.

According to TMZ, the actress “will think twice about getting hitched again -- the now ex-husband she calls a glorified assistant just scored a fat settlement in their divorce.” The woman has been ordered by a court to “hand over nearly $7k/month in spousal support to Keith Douglas. That's on top of the $50k she already shelled out to him in December.” The million Dollar question now is what was the woman thinking when she met, courted and getting married to a guy she now suddenly consider to be a “glorified assistant”? If the man actually fits that description then, she must be a glorified, damned fool!

A Quick Route to Divorce.

Stevie Wonder Welcomes Another Bundle of "Joy".

Legendary soul singer, Stevie Wonder was reported to have got a very special “Christmas present”. He and his girlfriend, Tomeeka Robyn Bracy, welcome a new baby, their second child.

According to reports, the soul singer already had eight children with five different women before this new baby. Stevie Wonder’s kids range in age from 12 months to 39 years. For a man who is considered to be financially comfortable, no eye-brows would have been raised except that, among other things, he is 64 years old!

As for the "baby mama", would she have ever thought of having children for such an old man if the man had not been a rich celebrity? At such an advanced age, what tangible role of fatherhood is the singer going to play in the life of that baby, other than to expose the child to a future laden with social and moral potholes? By the time the child grows to become 18, the father will be 82 years old and that is if the man is lucky to still be alive by then. This is very unfair to the poor child!

One can still remember the unpleasant situations that characterized the home-front of another legendary soul singer, James Brown upon his demise. Long after the man was buried, his body had to be exhumed upon a court order and subsequently, his legs were hacked off for a DNA test as part of a paternity suit. He was treated like a dead stray dog. What were (are) some men (and women) thinking? As they recklessly go about creating social problems, don’t they ever bother to think about the future consequences of their actions, especially long after they are gone?

SONY Pictures and its Peculiar Mess.

What a peculiar type of mess this is for SONY Pictures! In the aftermath of the leakage of her very crude and ignorant remarks about President Obama and some black movie stars, Sony Pictures co-chairman, Amy Pascal has begun a "healing process" by reaching out to some black leaders.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the woman said she “want to accept responsibility for these stupid, callous remarks."

In the leaked email exchanges between her and a producer (Scott Rudin) the duo mocked movies that featured black actors and joked about the president's possible interest in them. Examples of such movies the two "messed up" in their e-mails were DJango and 12 Miles.

What a time for a scandal like this to come up! Hackers or no hackers, this woman did demonstrate a lack of character and discretion. Someone at her level of corporate ladder should have known better than to “run her mouth” so recklessly. Sometimes, I wonder how some of these so-called corporate top shots got to their leadership positions. And now Amy Pascal thinks all she needs to sweep the stinks under the carpet is merely by reaching out to Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson?

American Mid-term Elections Results: The Real Losers.

There is a popular adage by the Yoruba (in Africa) that says: “Ticks always think they are killing a dog when, in reality, they are actually committing mass suicide.” This is because when the victim of ticks (dog) dies, all the ticks in its body will also die from starvation. This adage aptly describes certain categories of people who did not vote during the American Mid-term elections.

It’s safe to state here that the outcome of November 4th's elections amounts to a repudiation of President's Obama's policies. Yet, it's not because the policies were bad in themselves but because a large number of people refused to exercise their rights to vote. According to the news, there were poor turn-outs of voters in many states. But what are the implications of the Republicans' success at the polls and their control of both houses? Here are some examples:

1). The Affordable Care Act otherwise known as the Obamacare, which provides medical insurance for those with none, is in immediate jeopardy.

2). The proposed immigration reform act aimed at protecting those immigrants who are staying illegally in this country. This especially applies to those young people who (through no fault of theirs) were brought to this country as kids. This reform may soon end up in a trash can inside the congress chambers.

3). And lest I forget. There are those who are termed low-income people and living on “welfare” and food stamps (which the Republicans often call government’s "handouts") and those on subsidized housing benefits (section 8) may have to stay at alert henceforth. These are stuff that the Republicans hate and they may subject them to an urgent “reviews” soon.

Ironically, all of these things are likely to be repudiated because many of those who are benefiting from them refused to go vote! So, it was not President Obama or the Democratic candidates that lost. The real losers were the beneficiaries of the current dispensation.

 

20 Kids Can Never Play Together for 20 Years.

There is a saying in my ancestral homeland (Nigeria); “Twenty children can never play together for twenty years.” This is a reality of life. But it does not enjoy recognition among many of my African American folks. They don’t know when to let go of the human, emotional and material baggage in their lives. For the youngsters though, the worst baggage is usually their old neighborhood “homies” or buddies.

Many of these young folks, especially the men, are often stuck in the past. It’s considered an attitude of “keeping it real” when a young, urban professional, sports personality or Hollywood actor gets stuck with buddies or “homies” in his past neighborhood. It does not matter that those buddies are not doing anything positive or productive with their lives. If they are not drop-outs, they are deliberately jobless or into some criminal enterprises.

Now into big-time career and famous, a typical African American young man will surround himself with these buddies from the past. It will have been a different thing worth commending if he reaches out to those buddies with the sole aim of uplifting them educationally or with some careers. No, he will only be interested in turning them into hangers-on, to boost his ego. Sadly though, the same buddies or hangers-on will, in most cases, turn out to be his nemesis. This reminds me of MC Hammer, Allen Iverson and many others. Where are their buddies who used to play the role of hangers-on?

There was also the sad story of a young African American rising basketball star who, at the beginning of his career visited his old, childhood neighborhood. There, he ran into some old buddies who invited him to take a ride in a car. The group soon drove to the entrance of a store. Leaving the basketball star in the car, the others walked briskly into the store, pulled out small hand guns and robbed the place. As they ran back into their waiting car, a witness secretly took photographs of the young men. That was all the police needed to round up the perpetrators of the crime. All the attempts of the basketball star to prove his innocence proved abortive.

Unfortunately, this is just one of the many ways that innocent young black folks railroad themselves into bankruptcy, jails and worse, untimely deaths.

Poor Jill Scott and her Hacked Nude "Selfies".

I am still wondering about the hues and cries attracted by the hacked nude “selfies” of Jennifer Lawrence, Jill Scott and other female celebrities who are obviously “suffering” from overt narcissism. Worse than vanity, narcissism occurs when a person (usually a woman) places too much attention or admiration on their sense of beauty and general appearance.

Why, in the world, would those women (the so-called victims of hackers) go to the vain extent of taking nude “selfies”? Other than some silly hackers, anyone else could have stolen their phones and made a worse mess of those women than the hackers have done.



And now, there were those in the black community who felt Jill Scott did not get much “help” from the feminists fighting the hackers’ “injustice” against Jennifer Lawrence and some other white celebrities. These defenders of Jill Scott’s “moral virtues” were of the opinion that the “white feminists” were racists by not extending their “assistance” to Jill Scott because of her skin color. What arrant nonsense!

In the first place, what were Jill Scott’s objectives for taking nude "selfies"? Was mere looking in the mirror not enough for her? As for those blaming the so-called "white feminists", I guess they need to see the reactions on the internet. Most of the negative reactions to Jill Scot's nude "selfies" came from blacks (men and women).

Some black women actually wondered what Jill Scott thought she was doing by "flaunting" a shapeless body. And some black men "advised" her to go participate in the reality TV show called "The losers". Whether it was Jennifer Lawrence, Jill Scott or some egoistical female celebrity taking some childish nude "selfies", the act is nothing but the worst, gross level of vanity. It’s called narcissism!

 

Tom Brokaw on Gun Control.

On Thursday's "Morning Joe," Brokaw declared that the raging gun control debate reminded him of another chapter in America's history.

Thomas John "Tom" Brokaw is an American television journalist and author best known as the anchor and managing editor of NBC Nightly News from 1982 to 2004.

Speaking on the salient topic, the veteran broadcaster said “It reminds me a lot of what happened in the South in the 1960s during the civil rights movement. Good people stayed in their houses and didn't speak up when there was carnage in the streets and the total violation of the fundamental rights of African-Americans as they marched in Selma, and they let Bull Connor and the redneck elements of the South and the Klan take over their culture in effect and become a face of it. And now a lot of people who I know who grew up during that time have deep regrets about not speaking out."

Above picture shows the 9-year-old girl that accidentally shot her trainer. But why, in God's name, would anyone with common sense put an Uzi in the hands of a little 9-year-old?

Brokaw stated further that "Now it's time for the people who do have strong feelings, who are feeling that they can't do anything about it, to kind of band together and have something to say here."

 

The Drama of Kevin Hart & Torrei Hart.

The news broke the other day that Kevin Hart proposed to his girlfriend, Eniko Parrish. Now, there was no big deal in that. Every now and then, celebrities propose to their girlfriends. In this case however, it was a whole "different kettle of fish”.

Obviously, there is no love lost between Kevin Hart and his ex-wife, Torrei Hart. But it appears the two will go to any extent to demonstrate their hatred for each other.

Round One: On the day Torrei’s tv reality show, “Atlanta Exes” had its premier, the whole world got to know how Kevin cheated on her. And what did Kevin do to “retaliate”? He chose that same day to propose marriage to his girlfriend, Eniko Parrish and then had it posted on instagram.

Now, what manner of marriage proposal was that? A proposal made by a man merely to spite his ex-wife!



Round Two: Torrei was reported to have taken her crew to a strip club after her show aired. And what did Kevin do “mess up” that outing? He decided to go show-off his “freshly-minted” fiancée at the same strip club.

This time, was Kevin in that strip club coincidentally to show pride in his future wife or merely to use the poor woman (all over again) to spite his ex-wife?



While in the strip club, Kevin was said to have splashed about $40,000 all over the place…merely to make a “statement”…to spite his ex-wife!

As Torrei and her entourage gaped irritably at the melodrama of her ex-husband, she was said to have reacted that with a new man in her arms, she did not need to waste a dime in showing off.

And so, here is the bottom line: Kevin Hart is using his “fiancée” to spite his ex-wife and Torrei is using her “new” man to spite her ex-husband. What a bunch of stupid, childish fools they all are!

 

The American Crime Rate.

Without two groups of people, the crime rate in the United States would have been reduced by about 50%.

The first group consists of the dumb.

The second group comprises of those who have taken the phrase, "it's a free country" too far. Sadly, some people do belong to the two groups simultaneously. And here is an example:

While parking on a street, a guy stepped out of his car, leaving behind and openly, a cash-filled wallet on the driver's seat. He was on a rush to keep an appointment nearby. 

The car was soon broken into by some unknown thief. The man soon came out to start "crying" like a baby over the theft and vandalism.

And when asked (by the law enforcement officer who responded to the man's 9-1-1 call) why he left the wallet so carelessly on a major street, he exclaimed stupidly, "but it's a free country!"

Well, the cop felt like telling the fool; Why not "tell that to the Marines"...or better still, tell that to the "crack-head" who broke into your car...that is if the thief is ever found!
